Electric Motorsport’s Native TTXGP – Chris Heath

Local Isle of Man resident Chris Heath WINS the TTXGP Open Class.
Riding the #21 Electric Motorsport “Native TTXGP”, Heath completed the challenging 37.73 mile mountain course in 34 min 17.30 sec, at an average speed of 66 mph. He crossed the finish line 2 min 5 sec ahead of his nearest competitor.

The lap times of the competitors were impressive considering engines were not allowed. As the rules for the TTXGP state that the lap must be completed with zero tail pipe emissions. Even without the use of petrol engines many of the electric Motorcycles hit top speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Electric Motorsport is an established Green Tech company based in Oakland, California, that specializes in light electric vehicles and electric propulsion systems. The company is a prime parts supplier to many EV builders, including several of the competing teams.

Electric Motorsport’s Native TTXGP machine is a modified version of the Electric GPR-S, an electric motorcycle that the company has been manufacturing since 2003. The vehicle is unique in that it is the only production electric motorcycle racing in the eGrand Prix series.
All of the other competitors used modified petrol bikes while the Electric Motorsport entry was the only Motorcycle that rolled off the assembly line as a Electric motorcycle.

The Electric Motorsport team has been building custom electric Motorcycles for the past 8 years, and was invited to compete in the race by the event coordinator and motorcycle enthusiast Azhar Hussain

Todd Kollin, founder and CEO of Electric Motorsport comments, “We were very excited when when Azhar contacted us about participating in the first ever Zero Carbon Motorcycle Grand Prix on the legendary Isle of Man TT Mountain Course. Initially we had entered two bikes, one for the pro class and one for the open class. Shipping delays prevented our pro class electric motorcycle from arriving on time, so we were only able to run our modified production bike in the Open class. It was very gratifying to win the TTXGP Open Class, however it was more a win for the technology and to all the great teams that participated.”
